Dorothy Elizabeth Heckman Monk - Private

Dorothy Elizabeth Heckman Monk, 98, formerly of Hughestown, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026 in Embassy of East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre. She was the widow of Howard W. Heckman, who died in 1976 and her second husband, Clyde Monk, who died in 1987.

She was born in Wyoming, PA, the daughter of the late Leroy and Elizabeth Baker Robbins. She was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hughestown. She was a member of the Hughestown Ladies Auxillary, Hughestown Hose Company and the ILGWU. She was employed by several companies as a seamstress, her last one was Lucy's Styles, Pittston.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Dale Heckman and wife, Patricia and Wayne Heckman and wife, Theresa; daughter, Wendy Sartin and husband, Donald; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; brother, Richard Robbins and wife, Kay; sister, Betty Lou Murdock; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Heckman; brothers, Gideon, Donald, Leroy and Jack Robbins and sisters, Carolyn Guarnieri and Lois James.

A private visitation and service will be celebrated. Interment will be in The German People of Hughestown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pittston Memorial Library, 47 Broad Street, Pittston PA 18640-2562 or to the Hughestown Hose Company, 30 Center Street, Hughestown, PA 18640.
